The Maruchan Bowl Taste of Asia Tonkotsu flavor is inspired by Tonkotsu ramen which originates from the Kyushu region of Japan and has gained recent popularity in many ramen shops throughout the United States.

In Japan, the name "Tonkotsu" is written using the symbols 「豚骨」 and translates literally to pork bone. Traditional Tonkotsu broth is made from boiling pork bones in water for several hours. The result of this long boiling process is a creamy broth with a rich pork flavor. This broth is then mixed with a blend of spices, seasonings, and other ingredients to complete the soup for a Tonkotsu ramen dish.
